Pelosi admits not enough votes in the house to push health care bill through as outlined to senate?

How will they "change" the bill?

How will they change their tactics in the process of redoing the bill?

Its dead in the water now and some I see rejoice in that as though that was a victory over Obama, but I think its says more about the political system than it does Obama. He is just the current class clown in office. The Dem Party's handling of the health care reform bill is what killed it, not the GOP. Not raving conservatives vs. raving liberals. The Dems listened to the radical left and found that public was not interested in a change in the way we govern. First they tried to stash the bill in housekeeping bills that go before Congress the week before Congress goes on summer break and it was moderate Dems who outed it, not the GOP. You don't hide a major piece of legislation in the laundry to try to pass it that way. If its a good bill you don't have to do that, so it was a bad bill from the start and Reid/Pelosi knew it. For all of the debating that went on it was the people and not the GOP who stopped this, it was the outrage of the people that did two important things, (1) registered clearly to Congressmen and Senators who care about what their people think, and (2) it showed that the US Senate was willing to pass the bill politically and use its majority vote. So we learned a lot about who we sent to Congress. But there is still a lot of interest in health care but not health care that perpetuates the welfare state, or that puts private business under, or floods the hospitals and system with needless numbers. The country does seem interested in seeing some cost controls on medical care, on insurance premiums and less restrictions on people accessing private insurance. We do need that. Currently, illegal aliens are eligible for welfare and health cards and they have better health care than poor Americans. Obama, who wold love to find a way to allow illegal aliens to vote for him (yeah he would love to introduce non citizen voting) always lied about the coverage available. So what do we know from all of this. SCott Brown was elected by moderate Dems and Republicans and a large independent vote. He was NOT elected by conservatives and he is not a conservative, he is a moderate, grass roots politician. We know that we need to start shucking the dead weight in Congress and stop voting for candidates because they tell you they support your personal one issue. (gun control, abortion anti/pro, welfare, immigration, blah blah) and start holding them to the fire for what they do and what Congress does while they are there. If it is true that the majority does not support this bill, than we need to dump those public officials who were working against the public will. There is no way to dress that up, they voted contrary to what the people who elected them wanted. They need to go. They don't have to be replaced by Republicans, moderate Dems would be better or just as good as a moderate Republican. If the GOP can keep the wacky right wing from driving away the moderate and indenpendent voters they will take back the White House. If not it will go to someone like HIllary. This country is not right/left its moderate and thats how we get Presidents from both parites. Obama has failed to represent anyone but the most narrow of demographic, he needs to go. I am Dem and I will work toward getting a moderate candidate. If its Obama I wll vote for a moderate Republican (and there are many but the right wingers drive away the voters).

There is no doubt they will edit the bill to some degree, now. But in the end it will still be a pile of junk. IF liberals like Obama, Pelosi, etc. were half as smart as they think they are, all they would do is fix whatever ales Medicare and Medicaid. It would be millions and millions of dollars cheaper.

No, Obama and Pelosi intent to shove their bill though because there is a kick back somewhere down the road for them. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so determine to push a bill through that they themselves have no interest in.

They can start off by not threatening to send people to prison for not being able to afford mandatory health care.. That might be a good start. Next, they may want to take out taxed payer paid abortion. Just a thought. They also might want to do what Obama promised no less that 8 times and having the entire congressional actions showed on C-Span for true transparency and not holding little meetings behind closed doors. They may also want to take out the bribes.. That would be a good start... Infact, They might want to abolish the bill completely and start over at a place where everybody agrees. For Instance... "Nobody should be refused medical coverage for a pre-existing health condition"... Even the republicans agree with that..

    Just my Two Cents..

The reconciliation process was used because there was a bill that originated in the house different than the senate one, the reconciled bill passed the house first then the Senate, so it passes.

As the article stated, they can pass the current Senate bill and make changes via an amendment process which requires only 51 votes.

The only way is through reconciliation with the Senate...dissecting each section in each bill and finding portions that can be approved by both chambers.....and then working in a bi-partisan way to add "new" provisions. If this does not occur, there will be no overhaul now or in the future.

It doesn't matter how they change the bill. The Republicans are much more interested in defeating any bill than they are in helping the American people. The minority leader said as much, that their "goal" was to "block this monstrosity." Funny, I thought their goal was supposed to be to serve the American people.

Hopefully for everyone's good they won't do anything with the bill until Reid and Pelosi are history, she doesn't have any business trying to write any type of bill that will affect everyone in this country!

Good. Maybe now they'll drop the mandates and/or reinstate the public option, to make this "reform" actually change something. The Senate bill sucked.
