I like IBM laptops, they are almost useless if you set a BIOS password, There is a special chip soldered onto the motherboard that makes it very difficult to work with if its stolen.

The only thing the person who takes it can do it part it out but that takes time and makes it far less profitable and time consuming to sell.

    Use a special Laptop lock

Dont use software, all you need to do is whipe the whole thing clean and reinstall whatever you want and even a minimally experiences... whatever you call them bad people know that.

Depends where it was stolen from so i'll give you an example in every scenario -

At home, NEVER place it in sight of a window (even one at the back) its too tempting to those who wouldn't break in otherwise.

If you're taking it out, don't display it - always keep it in sight, preferably securely on your person. Keep it in a carry case with a fastener, and if you bring it to work/college/school make sure it -never- leaves you no matter how safe you think it is.

Other than that, if you're taking it out and about always keep it in the front of your mind up there with wallet phone and keys - remember you can't prevent it being stolen but you can try your hardest to reduce the risks

why did they only take specific products? staring at your case..a working laptop or computing device and digicam are actual carried off with out attracting interest, and are somewhat intense in fee for their length. that's annoying to act casual on a similar time as lugging around an unwrapped 32" flatscreen, and customized documents like credit taking part in cards or a passport may well be actual tracked whilst used, or canceled. Will this happen back? you prefer the psychic hotline to respond to this question. in case you do not sense risk-free, circulate. yet keep in mind that assets crimes can happen everywhere. that's been 2 months and you have not had the different incident, so it sounds like it became a random ruin. additionally, in the event that they did not take any of your documents, that's unclear that they keep in mind who you're or what you appear to be. if that they had wanted to take documents with a view to renowned you later, they might have actual completed so, yet they did not.

chain it to ur desk. or buy it and install lojack(dont know how lojack works. call them first) lojack tracks it. oh and to really protect ru computer secureley without paying extra would be to set a password not in the operating system but in the bios. to enter bios press enter or whatever ur laptop tells u to enter setup. the bios can ruin ur computer but not in ur case. urs is a laptop so the settings are all locked. in bios just look for lock at startup or something with password. u can easily hack thru the password in the os start up screen with a special prgram that is availbe for free online.

Keep a better eye on it. Plus you should purchase a product called LoJack for laptops. It can track your laptop if the thief uses your laptop. However, if they just use the laptop to part it out like a chop shop, then just keep an eye on it.

You can use a Kensington lock, many laptops today have a Kensington Security Slot (also called a K-Slot or Kensington lock) they are kind of like a bicycle chainlock, but for laptops.

Also if your laptop has LoJack installed on your laptop, it can track your laptop when it gets stolen.

If traveling in public or leaving it in a car, I don't bring my laptop case. I wrap it in a fleece, stick it in a bookbag and leave it on the floor of a car. If people see a bookbag, they might be curious as to what's inside, but if they see a laptop bag, they KNOW what's in there.

Guard It Well ! And Put a Lock Or Something On Its Bag
