employer background check question...?

I applied for a job and got hired. on my resume I put that I had my h.s. diploma however I actually only got my GED.

They are running a background check next week.. will this information show up on the background check or not?

I know it is bad to lie... and no they are not asking for a copy of my diploma or anything.

Please let me know !!! Thanks!

Update:

Yes but I'm worried that if it does show up then they will see I said I graduated from a particular high school when really I just got a GED. A lot of places don't look at resumes when they see GED .. So I lied!

Since a GED is really an equivalent degree to a HS diploma, I don't see it as a big deal even if the background check brings this to light.

A background check usually only brings up a criminal record. GED and high school diploma prove the same thing. I'm sure they would have still hired you if you were honest.
