Are you this good with a rifle?

I know it doesn't have much to do with hunting, but these are some of the people who insure our rights.

Thanks for the video. I remember close order drill and this was a wow. Those guys must put in some time to get to the handling they do. It beats a digitized movie. Those bayonets fixed took the prize.

Well yea that's not too bad. Actually I could and used to. I was in Marine Corps ROTC in High School also a member of our Drill team (also a Drill Instructor for my team, 1 of a few of us who was.) We spun rifles like that, and drilled (marched) and did all what they did. We spun M-14s (9 1/2 lb rifles unloaded). We did pretty good, and did pretty much all they did so honestly being that I have been there done that, I will give them credit where it's due but since I have seen it and done it not overly impressed by it. Just the Marine coming out in me, I hate their uniforms though, hand me some dress blues :P lol.

You wanna see something super impressive I say the USMC Silent Drill team would win.

Since I have done it, sure it looks cool and all flashy but truth is this. I have no need to twirl a rifle around... Guns were made for shooting and killing things, not to be spun around in cool fashion.

    Impressive.

I especially liked where they used one hand to slide the rifle over and down one shoulder and down their back and then caught it with their other hand at waist level behind their back. I hadn't seen that move before.

I've seen most of their other choreography by watching videos of the USMC Silent Drill Team and other military or ROTC drill teams.

So, can I perform their routines right now? Honestly, no.

It would take a lot of training for me to achieve their level of proficiency (assuming I had enough talent in the first place).

I can perform the basic rifle drill moves I learned in the U.S. Marine Corps.

    Thanks for sharing the video.

No, but I can carry eight loose bottles of beer from the fridge to the living room, and only stumble a couple of times...

I have a friend who was in Navy Ceremonial Honor Guard. Not sure if she did any rifle twirling, or even if they have any females doing that? I'll have to ask.

Upon viewing this video, I thought is this all they do in the Navy? Practice marching drills and twirl an object of destruction around? Of course not, but it was nice to watch the skilled young men handle their rifles. I love watching NCIS on television, and this is a nice formal processional tribute to the men and women who serve our country.

YES SIR although i am not that good, but i know everything i need to know as far as drill goes and more importantly i was trained to shoot not to twirl a rifle, although the best would have to be the Marine Corps Silent Drill team.

Well, I gotta say. I can't do that type of stuff. Second I tried twirling a rifle, I'd bet I'd smack myself on the forehead and knock myself out.

Don't worry about it having to do with hunting. These guys deserve recognition anywhere they go; they've earned it.

If I'm gonna twirl a firin' iron, let me get my 1851 navy out, yee haa!

That is really good. It takes skill, patience, and lots of practice. There is also another skill with rifles that is not treated with such pomp and circumstance - hitting what you shoot at and the willingness to take the shot.

I don't have the hand-eye coordination to do anything like that. I can shoot.. but that's as much as I can do with a gun. If I tried that, everyone in a 10' radius of me would be knocked out..myself included.

It's neat how they can do that tho.
