is it normal for gas pumps to overflow you gas tank?
not just drip or trickle out but gush out and get on everything

No it's not normal. If you try to top off your tank it will gush out.

No, modern gas pumps have a sensor that will prevent that. Older pumps don't have a sensor and may gush out. The other option is that the air breather on your tank is not working and so you put gas in, as the gas volume increases, the air pressure builds up and then pushes back, so gas may splash back.

As stated above all of them have a sensor.Unless you visit a older type pump which i believe have all been replaced it will not drain out.Just a friendly reminder since were on the subject.When the weather gets hot during the summer remember that gas gets measured in density and is less dense in cool weather(night) so save some money and fill up at night.

No I there. is a check installed in the pump. when the vapors get too high its supposed to kick. off its a broken pump should be reported.
