Growing brussel sprout?

As a new gardner I was delighted with my first crop of brussel sprouts last year. Now it is winter the stalks still stand tall. Living in BC with a mild climate, I wonder if I can just cut back the stalks and wait for another crop of sprouts next year (or do I have to pull them out and start all over again later in the year).

I read that to harvest you cut the stalk which encourages the plant to put out another. Try cutting some of them back now and wait til spring for others to see what happens.

Brussel sprouts take an prolonged time to improve. in case you have by no ability grown them formerly, the stalk grows tall - in some situations approximately 3 ft, and the little cabbages improve on the side of the stalk, below the leaves. you are able to the two p.c.. them off the stalk or slice them off. My relatives loves brussel sprouts. we devour them steamed, and we extensively utilized steamed sprouts in stir fry - yum!
