Help with functions! f(x+1)=sq rt(x+1)^2+(x+1)?

I have no idea how to do this. Please help me. I don't want the answer per say. Just step by step instructions with explanations.

    To find f(x) in this case, replace each instance of (x+1) with x.

    Then f(x) = sqrt(x^2) + x

    ==> f(x) = 2x

    You can check that f(x+1) = sqrt(x+1)^2 + x+1 = x+1+x+1 = 2x+2 = f(x+1) with f(x) = 2x
