If I wrote the president a letter, would I get a response directly from the president himself?

I'm a fourteen year old female high school student. I was told about how President Obama is trying to make year round schooling actually happen. I have to write whether or not I agree with it in my english class (I strongly disagree), but I was thinking that there's really not much of a point in writing it if the the president doesn't actual hear other people's opinions on the situation so I was thinking about actually sending the letter to Obama himself. Do you think it will make any difference at all, or that I will even get a response?

All the mail goes to the White House mail room where they sort through it and then give the President a breakdown on how opinion is going. You will get a letter back but it will be a standard form letter saying "thank you for your input" and then there will be a rubber stamp signature on the bottom.

But, you should write the letter anyhow. Its good for elected officials to know that people are concerned about issues and how it affects them. Just know this, somebody will read your letter and if you get everyone you know to write on the subject then they will see a trend and consider the issue.

Rarely does the president personally answer his mail, but people who work for him let him know what letter-writers are saying. If you write Obama, you won't get a personalized response, but you'll probably get a form letter saying "thank you for your opinion."

Does it make a difference? I think so.

Sorry to say this, but it won't make any difference, and the letter won't be read by him, nor will you get a personal response. You will get some formulated response about how your letter/email/phone call will help him in his decision making.

start a section here in yahoo or any other ask questions websites so other students like you can send their letters that way. \You do not know how many letters this post gets- but everybody else in the world can read it too and that will matter

There are tens of thousands of letters that are sent to the White House each day. It would be impossible.
