97 Honda Accord - window switch died along with power lock!?

My drivers side window has been going up and down increasingly slowly the last few months and finally yesterday the switch died with the window all the way down. I took the car to a local shop this morning to have them at least just get the window back up and tell me whether it was the motor or the switch that was the issue. They said the switch was dead but it would cost me $200+ to fix it so I told them I would have to wait on the fix and just pay them for the labor to get the window back up. Everyones fine with that - I pick my car up, pay and head to work. I now noticed that the power lock on the drivers side is dead along with the switch for the drivers window. Are the 2 connected or did the mechanic mess with the power lock to get me to come back and pay them to fix stuff? I had an issue with this same shop several months ago when I had them change my oil and all of the sudden, on the exact same day that I picked my car up, my daytime running lights stopped working. What a coincidence! Please help - thanks :)

It could be a coincidence, but if you have even a little mistrust with a mechanic you should seek another. I have mechanics that I trust 100%. I wouldnt have it any other way. And usually when youre looking for a mechanic or shop you should go to a few different ones with your car & see if any of them say something different, or a considerably different price. Also, ask everyone you know i.e. coworkers, friends, relatives, grocery store cashiers, who they go to & trust. I dont know whether those things are connected or related, its very possible they are, but I just wanted to help you get the right person for the job.
