Agree or disagree with this statement ? And why ?

When it comes to corporations and politicians, short-term greed always wins out over long-term sustainability......

Update:

I'm sorry, but I could have worded this better. The "long-term sustainability" meant of the earth and resources, not of the corporations themselves.

    Completely agree.

America is a consumer nation. We thrive on instant gratification in every possible form. At first, this only affected the economy, but with technological developments, it has begun to affect our social and political lives. As a result, a politician will sell themselves for a corporation so that they have that money as a reliable source. Greed is the problem with our economy, and it is destroying Democracy.

Only agree with the politician part.

A successful corporations will sustain for the long-term.

And the politician makes them look evil along the way.

Like police officers, like priests, like dozens of other groups that have high ethics and truly do a job for our country and others, when they do fall, it gets publicized everywhere.

It's the ODD things that get public view. They don't show used car dealers being discovered to be corrupt because it is a common conception that they already are (whether they are or not).

It's the unusual that gets shown. You don't get that. That's why a few corrupt or even slightly shady businesses make people blind to the MILLIONS of corporations that exist that are ethical and work hard for long term sustainability vs. short term gains.

You are being suckered, people. Check the percentages.

    Educate yourselves.

Good question--the largest and most successful corporations looked at long term---walmart--macdonalds--banks---microsoft---kroger---insurance--holiday inn---all look at the future for new products or services. Individuals sometimes look at short term benefits for themselves but not the industry. Government --politicians--reacts to the money and for next election. Government is way more corrupt than corporations when it comes to greed

No. To assume corruption in everybody with power will get us nowhere. If we assume everybody is corrupt, nobody will bother to take part in elections.

I've seen it happen before. People I know have decided to not vote, just because 'all the politicians are corrupt, anyway'. That kind of thinking will stop us from putting a good president in office.

I think that is a fair statement, but it goes beyond just corporations. Throw in unions, non-profits with an agenda, and other special interest groups.

    Agreed.

The ones who truly wish to do good for the future generations are those who are usurped by those monied interests who only wish short-term, immediate gain.

corporations look beyond short term greed to the LONG RUN.

    So I disagree.
