Disney -What is a better deal?

Have priced out a vacation to Orlando-WDW. Which is a better "bang for the buck"?

(I know the benefits of both hotels and the monorail. )

Port Orleans with the special disney offer of $500 gift card or the Polynesian (no gift card).

There is about a $400+ difference (leaning towards the Polynesian) between the two (But, then would have to pay out of pocket$$$ for extras w/ no gift card)

I would love some opinions-- and thoughts.

Update:

Update:

In order to get the cheaper rate at the Polynesian-- I chose the discount hotel% over the gift card. It is one or the other.

I'd go with the gift card option (although you can get that with any hotel right now, if you book through their website). But ask yourself this: how much time are you really going to be spending in the hotel? I'd save money and sleep for cheap. That's what we're doing anyway, and our room looked like a flamigo threw up in it -- but hey, it just means we get more cash for other activities.

All Disney hotels are great, the big advantage of the Polynesian is that is has the monorail in the hotel. That might make it a little more convenient to get to the parks. As for buying souvenirs. You should go to the outlets just down the street from Disney and they have TONS of things very reasonably priced. I think you will enjoy your trip no matter which location you choose, but the better deal is Port Orleans which is cheaper and includes a gift card.

    Have a great vacation!

P.S. You can still go to the Polynesian for the Luau and to see the shops.

The Polynesian is simply a more expensive hotel. It does have the advantage of being on the monorail line, and if you're traveling with small children, that is a huge convenience.

I've stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside twice. I really like it, and getting around is easy with the Disney bus system. There's also a boat from right behind the hotel that takes you to Downtown Disney, which is a nice way to get there. The gift card is a good deal, and you'd still be staying in a really nice hotel. If it were me, I'd go for Port Orleans. Seems like a win-win situation.

Why was there no gift card? The deal is $300 for a Value Resort, $500 for a Moderate, and $750 for a Deluxe Resort, which the Polynesian is... Did you go through their site?

They are both really nice hotels.

The monorail is a huge +++ for me however if you got the $500 gift card you could probably pay for most of your meals for the week.
