What are your thoughts on the Solar Flare that could send us back 100 years 2 years form now?
In 1859 a solar flare of great magnitude came in contact with earth, shutting down all of the telegraph systems on the planet. This was a huge deal back then....now think about what something like this could do to us now.
Satellites- Gone
Internet- Gone
90% of worlds money is just a number in a database somewhere-most likely gone also( EMP's dont **** around)
Yeah sounds ******* crazy right? Well scientist spend days and nights bored as hell trying to use their superior knowledge to find **** out and become famous in their community. A group of some scientist are super stoked on solar flares for some reason, and end up spending the majority of their lives staring at images of the sun to try to understand it better. Some usefull information that these scientists found that actually relates to us directly:
1.) The sun has been quieter than it has been in over 100 years...the next solar maximum is expected to be due around 2012.
I dont believe in 2012 prophesies but i do think this is just one giant practical joke that something as real as this could happen around 2012.
what do you think about all this?
are you going to begin thinking of ways to profit from a solar flare that knocks out all communications and electronic equipment?
do you think God's going to make everything all better in the end?

Solar flares do knock satellites out of the sky from time to time, and it is conceivable that it could damage computers and systems on Earth, but these are hardly unknown and mysterious effects.
Ever since it was discovered that nuclear bombs produce huge electromagnetic pulses, the military has been designing some equipment and systems to be able to handle such abuse. Many corporate and government storehouses of information are likewise protected, and fiber optic cables aren't effected at all by such things.
We are not quite as vulnerable as you might think.

You might get better answers by posting in Religion and Spirituality than politics, but anyways, there is no source cited for this and it sounds suspiciously like someone just looking to see something happen around 2012 if there is even any scientific validity to it at all. Either way its blown way out of proportion solar flares have happened before and we didn't go back to the stone age. They also don't cause EMP's. The worst that a solar flare could cause would be a temporary outage of satellites which means the Internet would slow down by maybe 1% (The other 99% of the traffic goes through land and ocean based fiber optic cables and the TCP/.IP protocol upon which the Internet is based automatically reroutes if a link goes down)

The sun has an 11-year cycle - the next solar max is in 2012, the last one was in 2001 (notice anything unusual that year?). A solar flare is not the danger, what could be dangerous to our society is a coronal mass ejection (CME) ejected in our direction. It could disrupt communications, electronics, power supplies, satellites, etc. So yes, it could be trouble for the Earth. Will one happen in 2012? Unknown. One could happen tomorrow or next week or in 15 years. Nothing unique about 2012. And since there is nothing that can be done to prevent one, scientists and engineers have been working for years on ways to shield electronics, protect satellites, and predict the arrival of a CME in advance to minimize some of the damage.

It was a much better time 100 years ago. Ill enjoy a cool lemonade at a band concert in the park and then maybe take the tin lizzy for a jaunt.

It sounds like you have been listening to the Art Bell show again.
Art Bell is not what I would call a reliable source on any topic

I think there is nothing I can do about it anyway. Maybe it is a good thing. Solve all the global warming prudes issues, won't it?

Ah who gives a **** right? Maybe this way we can actually have some damn peace and quiet.
