Is basil safe in second trimester?

Today I had for lunch chicken served in basil and tomato sauce, I looked on the internet and it said that Basil was to be avoided in pregnancy as it can cause uterine contractions, I am so worried now something will happen, I am 21 weeks pregnant.

i've never heard of people having problems after eating basil while pregnant. if uterine contractions were so common after having basil, your doctor would have told you about it since basil is a ingredient you find in a lot of dishes.

i dont think us italians would be very happy if we couldnt use our spices lol. i have never heard that before and have made many a dish with basil in it while pregnant without a problem. but if youre worried you could ask youir doctor.

  • I have never heard of that! My doctor gave me a list of foods to avoid during pregnancy and that was not on the list!
