Where are good alternative venues for a comedy show in LA?

Im trying to put on a show in LA, but avoiding the major comedy clubs, maybe in a place that usually hosts bands and holds between 50-200 people. Also, good bars with a small stage would do, or small theaters. Anyone recommend anywhere good?

Do you already have a following of that many people or are you trying to attract that many?

The one poster was giving some of the major locations which I don't think you want. I will give you one location but mainly because it recently opened and they may be willing to rent out for a private party or something on that order. In CityWalk, they opened up a John Lovit's Comedy Club and they haven't built up a good clientlel yet. You might be able to rent it out on a weeknight. z

The Comedy Store on Sunset is really good, lots of big names and really funny stand-up.

Also, the Laugh Factory on Sunset. Both places are good for big-league comedy.

For smaller venues, try the iO West on Hollywood near Cahuenga. Really funny improv groups perform there, and it's less expensive (see resources).
