Before investing large amounts of money, I suggest testing the idea with friends, family and neighbors. See if you can land some jobs through your network. Video tape your performances and ask your network for testimonials and referrals to expand your network further. If you get some initial traction from networking you can begin to invest in some marketing tactics to build broader community awareness such as:
- A website or a landing page with geotargeted pay-per-click ads and SEO
- Renting a table at local PTA meetings to hand out brochures
- Perform at local charity events
- Put an ad in the community newsletter/paper
- Etc
