Was Obama's State of the Union 2010 an EPIC FAIL?

The AP pretty much destroyed it afterwards.

What do you think??

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100128/ap_on_go_pr_wh...

OBAMA: "Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don't."

THE FACTS: The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than one percent of the deficit — and that's if the president can persuade Congress to go along.

Obama is a convert to the cause of broad spending freezes. In the presidential campaign, he criticized Republican opponent John McCain for suggesting one. "The problem with a spending freeze is you're using a hatchet where you need a scalpel," he said a month before the election. Now, Obama wants domestic spending held steady in most areas where the government can control year to year costs. The proposal is similar to McCain's.

OBAMA: He called for action by the White House and Congress "to do our work openly, and to give our people the government they deserve."

THE FACTS: Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign — to have the negotiations for health care legislation broadcast on C-SPAN "so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Instead, Democrats in the White House and Congress have conducted the usual private negotiations, making multibillion-dollar deals with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and other stakeholders behind closed doors. Nor has Obama lived up consistently to his pledge to ensure that legislation is posted online for five days before it's acted upon.

Update:

god's.............actually, this is the first question I've asked today.

His criticism of "special interests" and campaign funding limits got my attention - - considering his base is made up of special interests, and his campaign funding had no limits inside or outside the country.

He was preaching not giving a state of the union. When he said the American people have lost trust in "the government", he should have been pointing the finger at himself.

I didn't think it is the State of the Union Address, but rather an address to a Joint Session of Congress. It will be like the State of the Union for many, and may replace it this year. There really isn't a law that there be a public address, but only a requirement that the President "report" to Congress. That could be done with a printed address. Now-a-days, he could e-mail it or text it to them, I suppose. We plan to watch it, but stuff happens when you have children. We will read the text if we don't see the broadcast.

OMG lol..after reading all that though, I'm not surprised at all the rhetoric he spewed. It's more of the same just like his campaigns. Like I stated earlier today, I don't listen to his talk, I prefer to follow his actions and then compare them to what he has said before. It's usually a 180!

EPIC Is minor compared to how it will fail.

BO would be better off putting his head back in the sand. What a socialist marxist he and his administration is.

I guess all the talk of Bush's rhetoric of hydrogen fuel cell cars and ending the dependence of oil was a huge success. <snicker>

No. I thought it was pretty good. I'd like to see him to do everything he proposed. Give him some time to get 'er done instead of micro-analyzing his first year. He gets three more before we have to decide whether to kick him out of office.
