Is beet root sweet and cause you to put on weight?
I am on diet to lose 20 kg , so far I have lost 7kg in 2 months. But I am introducing beet root into my daily lunch.
Does anyone know whether it will cause me to put on weight?

Like sweet fruits such as mangoes, watermelons, etc... Beet has natural sugars in them (otherwise known as fructose). Consumption of beet isn't as harmful as compared to taking sweet foods (generally made from cheap cane sugar) but notwithstanding that, over bulking on beet can still lead to weight gain.
Fructose= sugars in fruits and vegetables but not as harmful as sucrose (derived from cane sugar and the cause of diabetes and weight gain. ) BUT excessive amount intakes of fructose can ultimately lead to weight gain. Say, for example, taking 500ml of soft drinks per day can lead to weight gain in 6 months. But it takes 500ml of fruit juice (non-sweetened, no sugars added) to make one gain the same amount of weight in 12 months.
