I absolutely love country music, more than just the new stuff, but it's all slipped my mind.

"I Fall to Pieces" by the late great Patsy Cline
I think these 3 are by Red Solvine, but I think someone else sang "Teddy Bear"
"Phantom 309"
"Teddy Bear"
"Giddy-Up-Go"
"End of the World" by Miss Skeeter Davis
"D-I-V-O-R-C-E" By Tammy Wynette
Most songs of Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette are super sad tear jerkers.
And Red Solvine's are geared to bring a tear or two.
Some of the saddest songs came out in the 1950s thru about 1977, I think Viet Nam had a lot to do with the country music as well as Rock.
From 1954 through 1973 we were fighting the Viet Nam Conflict and shortly before that was the Korean Conflict---Not much to sing for...

You're Gone - Diamond Rio
Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye - George Strait
You Lie - Reba McEntire
Those are just a few right off the top of my head. We should chat sometime, I LOVE country music, especially 90's country. I'm a big fan of incredibly sad depressing songs too, unless I happen to be going through a bad time myself lol.

In my opinion, THE most depressing country song is "A Place To Fall Apart" by Merle Haggard. Just the lyrics and the way he sings it...just makes you want to cry. Some others are:
Leavin's Been Comin' (For A Long, Long Time) - George Strait
Today My World Slipped Away - Vern Gosdin (also by George Strait)
Chiseled In Stone - Vern Gosdin (man, that will send chills up and down your spine)

Kellie Pickler - Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You
Reba McEntire and Kenny Chesney - Every Other Weekend
Miranda Lambert - More Like Her
Not totally about a "breakup" but still pretty depressing...
Dolly Parton - Jolene
Hope i helped!
