How should I present a special baby shower gift to my daughter?

I have a blanket that was made for my daughter when she was born and saved it for when she would someday have a child of her own. That day is coming and I wonder how to present the blanket as a gift to her? I don't want to just wrap it in a cardboard box. Is there some special "container" that might even act as an additional keepsake I could use? How about a little poem....anyone got any ideas? Could also use some clever ideas for throwing a baby shower---games, how to give away door prizes, clever ideas for foods, etc. Please share!

Update:

So far all you ladies ROCK!! I thought of a poem:

When you were born, I carried you, snuggled close to me,

Wrapped in a blanket that was made for you especially,

It stayed protected through the years while you became a woman grown,

In hopes that someday in your life you'd have a child of your own;

Now soon that day we'll celebrate as your precious one is due,

To be enfolded in your loving arms...

In the blanket that once held you. :D

maybe u can custom make a diaper bag with the baby's name on it and put the blanket inside and have her open it and that will be cute and surprise her.

    games:

baby bottle sucking game- put juice in the bottle and have everyone have a "race' on who can drink the juice faster.

Diaper game- have a couple of dippers with diff. kinds of chocolate in them and have people guess what kind of chocolate it is

Measuring tummy- estimate the amount of toilet paper blocks it takes to go around the mom's belly.

Congrats on the new baby! Hopefully this was helpful!! :)

One thing that they did at my shower THAT I LOVED was make me a scrapbook.

Its not a game but its a really fun/ creative idea.Just get a bunch of scrap booking supplies and have a table set up, Before people start have them pick a theme out of a bowl like " first bath'' or " day at the zoo'' etc. so that people don't make more then one of the same page theme.

Once everyone is done it makes a really nice extra shower gift and its fun for all the guests!!!

If your not planning on your daughter actually using the keepsake blanket is there anyway you could have it framed? With like her baby picture in one corner and save the other corner for the new baby's picture?

As for the baby shower, sorry I suck at those types of things lol I am not very creative.

I'm not sure about the blanket (but omg how sweet is that..anyway)

As far as the baby shower goes..for mine we got little tiny plastic babies at a party store and put them in icecube trays and when they were frozen they were frozen in the ice cube. put one ice cube in each persons punch or water or whatever, and whoevers baby is "born" first wins a prize..it was a big hit.

the chocolate melted in a diaper is a huge hit too.

The poem is really nice to include.

One suggestion, I did this on my craddle which my Dad built. If you or someone you know is good at sewing, get them to add or sew both your daughter's name and DOB as well as your grandchild's name and DOB. We got little plaques made up with all the names and DOB of children who have used the cradle as thier first bed.
