Do you think The congress will aprove a Immigration Reform This Year?

I mean, the scenario is just not good for the undocumented people and its getting worst, racist groups are getting stronger and some people mixes the gang member and criminals with hard working families that all they do is work and try to have a better life for their children, i am talking about the ones payin taxes and doing their best to pay for their meical bills that are just impossible to pay without insurance, i feel really bad about this people because i've read a lot of posts saying things that just dont make sense to me, this people should recognize that there is a small amount of undocumented people that is bad and criminals, just like whites and blacks have some people that deserves jail and punisment, but the most of them are good hard working people trying to make a living, with feelings and hope, and tears and broken hearts because they see their children just like you, with so much love, and when they see those little ones, they know, that they will do all they can to give them a better future. thanks for reading.

I consider it unlikely. It's difficult enough to do at any time which is why Bush had so many problems when he tried. I think the Democrats will be looking at job creation and I can't see the Republicans stepping up on their own with any ideas on this even if McCain was previously a major supporter.

After amnesty in the 80s the American people were told that there would never be another one again. Almost all Americans are against it, almost all of congress is against it. It will never happen. Congress represents Americans not people who are illegaly in the country

they are not undocumented. They are lawbreakers and the law calls them illegal aliens, this is what they are. It does not make sense to me how someone can break laws and then expect us to embrace them. It has nothing to do with race, it is to do with our country being invaded and over run with people who continuously disrespect those laws. No it will never pass. The only racism I see is from the illegals who boo hoo and whine that everyone who does not want them here is racist, what a crock. go to one of the websites that are dedicated to victims of illegals and then tell us only a small amount are the criminal element. I worry about U.S. children, not the illegal children that drag down our schools and use our services meant for citizens. Sounds like your the racist considering illegals only one specific race. Illegals are black and white also, they need deported also. If they are paying taxes, they are committing another crime, because they are doing it with fake and stolen identities. Americans will not allow these illegals to get amnesty as you wish. Think the health care plan was bad, wait until this literally comes up. There will be millions of Joe's speaking out. And most on here do belong to other groups who legally fight against these illegal alien lawbreakers. no sympathy here.

We can only hope. Immigration reform is a "hot" topic. The main reason is that there is not a perfect way to do it. Different groups have different projections of potential outcomes and the truth is there is no way to say exactly what will happen if we change things. The only certainty is that what we have now is not working, not for them, not for us. There will always be problems, as with any law, and there will always be people with legitimate concerns about specific points in any government policy. Hopefully, we can get a little closer this year. As you can see here, there are many who realize that some type of reform is sorely needed. Then as you point out there are the haters, who have nothing to say that makes sense, just spreading hate. There will not be a war, there will not be famine, the US will not go (anymore) bankrupt, Mexico will not take over.

I'm an illegal immigrant that came to the United States at the age of four, and I just want to say thanks for your post. It is really, really nice to know that some people out there actually have a heart. For anyone that cares, most immigrants are normal people just like you! My dad had a great business in Mexico and lost it due to an economic recession. My sisters went from attending private schools, to having nothing to eat. It is not easy, as an 18 year old, to look into my mother's eyes and see the exhaustion from all of her hard years of work in this country that I know she did for us. And by the way, she is the sweetest person you could ever meet and it hurts that people consider her a criminal.

Lets do the numbers again. In 1980 we granted a one time only amnesty for 3.1 million illegal aliens

The government told us the number would be about 2.0 million. So now twenty years later or so we have between 12-20 million illegals and their supporters demanding their one time only amnesty. I truly believe the numbers are more like 30-40 million. So does this mean that in twenty years or so we will have 50-60 millions illegal demanding their one time amnesty. Our government has no intention of stopping the illegal with laws with any teeth. So all that amnesty brings is more demands for amnesty

Yes because we cannot fix things by enforcing what hasn't work. It doesn't make any sense!

I know what you mean. I hope they pass it this year. Americans are blaming illegal immigrants for ruining the country. illegal have no control, only Americans do. Look where we are at?!! That's just tells me how stupid people are who are against immigrants. Those anti supporters wants everything to be provided in their hand, so they blame illegals. They blame illegal to take their jobs, so that just shows how smart illegal are. Even without documents they can get jobs unlike Americans who live on welfare.

Retro enforcement of a previously unenforced immigration policy.... is no longer feasible. That ship has sailed long ago.

If some one says..."round em' up and send em' all back".... that person is ignorant to reality.

It would not only be logistically impossible, it would be inhumane and have a net negative affect on the economy and society in general.

The only decent and logical thing to do, is to integrate them fully into society, on a case by case basis...in accordance with the things you just mentioned.

    No criminal record.

Has held employment and paid taxes.

Has been living here for X amount of years and can prove it.

The longer we wait, the worse it will get.

If we don't make the "front door" to America more attractive and accessible to the poor, than the "back door", we will always have people crossing illegally no matter how high of a wall we build.

90% of the people that actually know what's included in the bill support it. The others just hate it because they either don't know the details of the bil, or just hate it because it's an Obama plan.

Legalization Would Boost Economy During Recession

Legalization increases short-term incomes, job creating consumption and net tax revenues in the low wage segments of the labor market, as well as sets the long-term foundation for an expanding middle class and a more sustainable economic recovery. The experience of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) is very instructive in this regard, producing both wage and consumption gains, and enhanced tax-revenue collection in the midst of a recession of the late 1980's and early 1990's, as well as decades of very high rates of educational, home and small business investments by newly legalized families. If Congress and President Obama legalized the current 10-12 million undocumented persons in the U.S. an economic stimulus of $30-36 billion in personal income, 750,000-900,000 new jobs, and $4.5 to $5.4 billion in net tax revenue would result!
