Does anyone know, or can you figure out, the meaning of my new screen name?
Not that I don't already know the answer, but it's a cool way for someone to get 10 points for a really good Best Answer with at least one reasonable citation.

"Bright famous one", an old Anglo-Saxon form of Robert (in which form it's been popular in Scotland for a long, long time).
There was no such thing as unified or formalized spelling in those days, so there is no canonical way to spell that Anglo-Saxon name; other forms of the name in old english:
Hrēodbēorð, Hrodbeorht, Hrodbyrht, Hrodberht, Hrœdberð, Hrothberht (compare Hrothgar), &c.
But a fine name in any form!

Your screen name is an Anglo-Saxon name taken from Hreod: Fame, and Beorht: Bright. It means "bright fame" in old English and is the precursor to the name Robert. All in all a very cool way to keep old English alive. Your efforts are laudable, sir!
