Any activities near SI, NY for dogs during the winter?

My bf and I love taking our 10 month old maltese/poodle outside to parks and walks on the beach to interact with other dogs. But he HATES the cold. So during the winter months all we can do is take him to petsmart to walk around. Are there any activities (other then walking around a store) that we can do during the cold months? Are there any indoor dog runs or daycare type places lol? I live in Staten Island, NY but I'm willing to travel to Bklyn or Northern NJ. Anyone know of anything?

Yes, there are doggie daycare's in Staten Island. Have you thought of maybe trying agilty or Rally obedience? Because there's a local obedience training club on Staten Island. Right now, they're offering indoor agility, when April comes around, it will move outdoors.

Hi - There's plenty you can do indoors, if a dog's relaxed it'll sleep, so strenuous exercise isn't necessary.

Teach him to come, sit, stay, walk to heel, fetch, find. All much more fun, less stressful and easier for you as you can do it all in even the smallest apartment, starting and stopping as you please, and the coffee's cheaper.

Even making him think about these things will use up his energy- interacting with other dogs isn't necessarily fun for him , especially if he thinks he's boss.
