Finding the RADIUS AND DIAMETER of a circle questions please?

Give all answers correct to 3 Significant figures where appropriate, except question 3.

1. While on special offer, a tin of baked beans contains 25% extra free. If the height of the tin is to remain the same and the area of the base of the original tin is 30cm^2 find the diameter of the new tin.

2. A running track consists of two straight sections with semi-circular ends. If the straight sections measure 100 metres and one complete lap on the inside of the track measures 0.5 km, what is the distance x between the two straights?

3. A rope 60m long and 5cm in diameter is coiled tightly. Estimate, correct to one significant figure, the radius of the 'circle' formed.

I am really STUCK on these questions HELP will be greatly appreciated THANKS!

    The distance between the straight sections is the diameter of the semi-circular end.

    (1) The entire length of the semi-circular ends is 2 * pi * r or pi * d since 2 * r = d

    (2) One semi-circular end is pi * d / 2

    (3) the entire track is 500m = 100m + 100m + d * pi / 2 + d * pi /2

    300 = d * pi or d = 95.492

    #3 is a tough one.

    you are going to be able to desire to be attentive to the definitions and measures of a circle. radius is the degree from the middle to the circumference. diameter is the degree from circumference to circumference interior the direction of the middle. (the diameter is often equivalent to 2 radii) The circumference is given by ability of the formula: C = 2 ? r you ought to have the means to calculate the radius (r) and the circumference (C) once you be attentive to the diameter.
