Child care for taxes?

Last year I was unemployed but still got a check from the government. I also still paid for my child to go to daycare..even though I didnt earn and earned income will I still get something back for child care expense?

    No, daycare is only allowed for a credit if it's so you can work or go to school. And the credit can only reduce your tax, you don't get money back for it, so unless you had other taxable income that caused you to pay tax.

    None.

    You can't even claim day care if your only income was unemployment as you were not working.

    It all depends, if you have enough deductions that are over the amount of the standard deduction then yes you can. If the standard deduction is higher you have to go with that.
