I would like to install a visitor counter (with statistics) to my website. Can anybody tell me how to do that for free? I need to know how and where to download one and how to upload it to my website.

they give u a java code you simply paste it in your website
check this website for a counter that count visitors for this day

Here is a good free one that is easy to place on your site and it has many features. http://www.statcounter.com/
The stats will not only show you how many visit but also their location (state/country), how many times the return, and more. Pretty cool for it being free.
I use it for a few sites I have done.
