mozilla firefox security question?
Is there a way using mozilla to block myspace on my work computer. I manage a small store and have had issues with employees using myspace and I have been warned by my boss that myspace is NOT allowed. any help is appreciated. I know in internet explorer you can block a website but how do you do it in mozilla?

Look here: http://www.labnol.org/software/browsers/block-webs...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now type the following text in that Run box:
notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Step 2: You will see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information. Don’t panic. Just goto the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type the following:
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
Save the file and exit. That’s it. The site above will not never open on your computer.
You can block as many websites as you like with the above technique. If you want to remove the ban later, open the same file as mentioned in Step 1 and delete the above lines.

You would be far, far better off having your entire system in a "locked-down" state.
(a Q was posted today about this very thing: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsREJ...
Anytime you have an administrative account accessible by employees, trouble is sure to follow.
Have your "main" account (you) bullet-proof password protected, and all other users can only use the "Guest" account (which you enable from Control Panel> User accounts).
Then you can pursue lock down methods for the Firefox.
Look for add-on's that will allow blocking AND have some method of locking that down, or the next user can just change the settings.

Yeah, tools, options, privacy tab, custom history, exceptions , type the site, then click block, then click ok. ~
