If Pitt moves to the Big 10, what school should the Big East try to pick up to replace them.?

It would have to have a Div 1 football team.

Update:

I suppose 'Nova could come on in Div 1 football. Then the Big East could go after another basketball only school. Any suggestions. I was thinking Xavier, but they probably won't want 2 in Cincinnati. Maybe Duquesne will make the jump???

I don't see Notre Dame joining Big East Football. They have resisted going to the Big 10 for football for so long, I just can't see it.

Update 2:

A lot of interesting ideas. I'm putting this up for a vote.

If something like that were to happen, they would probably go after Central Florida or possibly Temple out of schools that are currently Division I. Temple would keep that conference in the state of Pennsylvania, and Central Florida would provide a rival for South Florida, who currently really doesn't have one in conference play.

Villanova already is a member of the Big East in basketball. They just won the Div.1AA championship. They will be Pitt's replacement.

Buccos- the question didn't say it had to be a Big 10 school.

Tigers fan- GO TIGERS! And Notre Dame won't join a conference just because of all the special treatment they get right now.

    Notre Dame!

  • East Carolina. They're a really good team from a not so-good conference and they showed in their bowl game against Arkansas that they can play against big name teams. Plus they beat West Virginia and Virginia tech last year.

Illinois, Indiana or Minnesota - Pick one.

They all lack the fan base that Pitt has or the success.

Source(s): Tigers Fan 141, Notre Dame is Independent in football - they don't belong to a conference.
