I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop to windows 7 but I'm afraid I won't be able to find all the drivers needed?

I have an ACER Aspire 6920g and it has a bunch of features that wouldn't come on a normal windows 7 disk such as the fingerprint reader and the touch remote on the side of the keyboard. There is also this epower technology that I'm sure it will be difficult to find the software for.

I remember when I upgraded from xp to vista on another machine that I had all these problems that I couldn't find drivers for anything so I had to revert back to xp. Am I going to have the same problems with this one?

If you have Vista right now, everything will work with Windows 7.

Probably. Vista is basically the same kernel type as Vista. But 7 is more compatible with older hardware than Vista was. You might be mildly surprised. You can always check the acer website to see if they've provided windows 7 drivers for your laptop.

Windows 7 is awesome, but chances are your computer is not supported. So I would save your money and buy a new computer and stay away from Acer. There is a reason they are so cheap. From everything I've read and learned about them they are the worst brand made out there.

When you do get a new computer go with an hp, toshibia, sony or an asus. They are the top brands and ones you can trust.

Some of the driver files are hard to find, but it seems like Vista files work in some cases

Check with ACER driver support first before upgrading. Most manufacturers have updated most of their drivers to be compatible with their hardware.

I had the same question with my IBM, but I reviewed what drivers were listed for my make/model before considering.
