Why do people post every little thing they do in status updates?

like on myspace/facebook (e.g. 
Stats update: "just woke up"
Stats update: "eating a sandwich"
Stats update: "I just blinked"
Stats update: "watching movie"

So annoying. Do they think people actually care about every little detail they are doing?
