3 AnswersLanguages6 months agoWhich is the correct pronunciation?
of the name Yliana
is it ''ee-lee-ana'' or ''illy-ana''
I like the fist one, but I'm not so sure as to which is more correct in English.
3 AnswersLanguages12 months agoThis may very well be a common question but how does one brace the abs?
I'm not looking for cues like 'navel to spine'-that's not bracing that's hollowing and using the transversus abdominis from what I've gathered. That's not what I personally want to do right now.
I'm looking for cues that are perhaps similar to ''bracing for impact to the stomach'' perhaps but I always flinch and use my hands in the event of stomach impact so please explain in further detail or maybe give me a different simple cue or set of steps or exercises? thanks :)

7 AnswersBaby Names1 year agoHello, fitness question about the abs here?
How does one brace for a punch to the stomach? It's a well-known cue in the gym but it's very unfamiliar to me.
If it's an isometric abdominal contraction does that mean I can use other muscles isometrically to help fire the abs? For example: squeeze underarms (latissimi dorsi) and/or inner thighs (hip adductors)?
Please explain how to brace abs using the punch cue. Thanks!

3 AnswersLanguages2 years agoWhy is coloratura soprano Audrey Luna doing this?
Audrey Luna seems to be able to hit high notes in the stratosphere and I just cannot help but wonder how she's hitting high A's on a ''ya''. Why is that?
Is she directing her voice forward and creating a small narrow laserbeam-like space? That's how I rationalise it personally. It doesn't sound pharyngeal but I'm sure in order to sing extreme high notes she's narrowing the space so as to use more of that bratty sound.
note: I am not very familiar with operatic technique. I used to like opera and pursued opera technique but I became interested in how Thomas Appell teaches so I decided to somewhat ditch opera...emphasis on somewhat. Thanks
4 AnswersSinging2 years agoHow would this made up name be pronounced in Welsh Ylianwen?
My guess is ''URR-lee-ANN-when''
the urr sound being similar to the American way of pronouncing the first syllable in ''early'' but without the R.

1 AnswerPolls & Surveys2 years agoPoll-How would you pronounce this name?
Yleanne
Personally I'm torn between
eye-lee-anne (I kind of see the yle part as being pronounced like isle)
and illy-anne.
Thanks. I tried asking elsewhere to no avail. Also it's OK if you think it's atrocious, I'm not using it just wondering.

3 AnswersLanguages2 years agoHello, problems with pronunciation of a name?
I know it's hard without knowing the origin but is it possible that the name Yliane is pronounced eye-lee-AN if it's Anglicised? Do you see it? How about Ysliane (with a silent s as in the word island)?
9 AnswersBaby Names3 years agoAm I the only one who sees this pronunciation?
The name Yliana. I've been struggling to find the correct pronunciation in English. I mean there is the typical Hispanic ''ill-ee-ah-na'', but in English I don't see that. I only see the harsher pronunciation that is ''eye-lee-ah-na''. I respect the fact that it is not of English origin, but I feel like the y and the i together would look and sound harsh if it were Anglicised. Agree or disagree? Thanks.
Languages4 years agoHi, unusual question. Thanks in advance?
Is it possible to have a name or word that begins with Y, where the Y functions as a vowel and is pronounced as a long 'i' sound?
In other words an initial Y that sounds like 'eye'?
examples: ylem (eye-lem)
even though the foregoing word is pronounced as 'ee-lem' as per the Oxford English dictionary.
