Yes, but at the cost of one's humanity. Doing so would wreck your life completely, but I can see that you seem to think that you're gothic, so I'll tell you how.
See something traumatic. I'm not talking about **** like a dead dog. You need to see something so horribly grotesque that you will subconsciously force yourself to block out emotion as a reaction to the anguish you are feeling at such a sight.
However, I doubt you'll find something like that, so enjoy the fact that you think and feel, and are a normal person, just like everyone else.

Compassion is a passion coupled to an emotion, compassion can be from kill dead to give life, hate to love, it is an emotion put in motion, Empathy will be a direct reflection of the compassion, empathy also does not go away, neither does compassion, compassion in a high degree of love or hate does create life or death, the intellectual thought of the act and the outcome is empathy, the two just change, they are like soft clay that can be molded by the senses, a beautiful gender or a child being hurt, it is a roller~coaster ride and life is the track, sympathy, I think sympathy can correlate some times with the affected, depends on the act, an act of love, then it must be as correlate, being it is, cor is Latin for Heart, and relate is self explanatory, I think a act of violence is more felt in the Mind of the victim, not the Heart, unless of course it is an act of or out of love, then the victim feels it more in the Heart than Mind, but I think sympathy is dieing, desensitized, I honestly believe mankind is in a psychological plague, a overall mental distress, affecting the whole world, you can see people from all walks of life trying their best to communicate, but it is like they just can not make it, to many distractions, trying to fix everything at one time, nations bickering, threat of war, terror, jobs, family matters, we are failing, and falling quick, one wrong thing by a armed nuclear nation and the future for the children is naught, lack of trust, lack of loyalty, lack of honor, the common people, the voice of the Heart of a nation, the herd, the cows, the sheep, they are blind to the predators, the lions, bears, the dragon, the voice of the Mind of a nation, it seems people are not paying attention to all the testimonies of mankind, the documentations of life, and death, who is who and why. The only way to make someone un~sensitive, is to make them without life.

definite! each and each and every of the time! i will't stop feeling sorry for Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook shooter, in simple terms using how unhappy his earlier life replaced into! and that i think sorry for Muslim terrorists. they are really attempting to thrill Allah. i do not realize why I continuously attempt this. I even sense sorry for Adolph Hitler each and every so often.

It's becoming more and more common for people to be desensitized. People don't care about suffering because they're so wrapped up in themselves and their material possessions.
