i took my sons diaper but left the potty in the room when the time came he ran to his potty. try taking the diaper off around the time he goes

I had a friend who had this problem. It's all about control, even if it's subconscious.
She would put a brand new Hot Wheels car on the wall above the toilet. Something to shoot for, no pun intended.
