How does not having any income for a year affect my income taxes? (In Washington state)?

I finished college full time in 2009, but had 0 income for a year solid. What does that mean for my taxes? I won't get any w-2 since I never worked, just looked for work.

You still should file a tax return, and it will be extremely simple. Enter - O - as earnings (that's zero), then enter - O - as federal tax withheld, then enter - O - as your refund amount. Sign, date, and mail.

    ------------

The IRS likes it if you file even though you didn't have any taxable earnings, so it's a good practice to do so.

    -------------

Naturally, you won't get a tax refund since you never had any federal taxes withheld in the first place.
