Deer WILL bite to defend themselves if injured. Males will also use their antlers, and you could get gored. If the ASPCA can't help, try animal control. If that doesn't work, you will have to call your local police, or sheriff dept. They will come out and humanely put it down.

I hope that the deer will be ok. It's sad but life can be very harsh for wild animals. There is always a chance that the deer's leg will heal on it's own. Many wild animals can survive the loss of a limb - even deer. Last winter I saw a wild three-legged deer. It got around without any problem - and was able to run very quickly. The neighbors said that the deer has been in the area for years. Thanks for caring. The world needs more people like you who care about nature and the animals who share our world.

Call the department of wildlife. If they won't help they will know where to send you. Animal control is also a great place to start. Look in your phone book or search online for a number.

Do not approach the animal, it will just freak it out more and endanger the deer and yourself. Your presence will not comfort it, not matter how sweet your intentions. Your mom knows what she is talking about.

it's really sad but one never wants to see an animal suffer. but try not to let it die in vain as the deer can provide many meals for your family and friends in these tough economic times. best of luck. whatever happens, try not to watch.

Call the rspca, or your closest vets, often deers recover, hopefully it gets better & the only thing is, if you do go close to it you may scare it, causing it more harm. i know you want to do the right thing but sometimes sad things happen to wild creatures.

Deer are herbivores, it definitely wont bite you. Deer run away for defense and bucks...well buck you. Never the less call your local animal controll center. You can get their number online or from your local police dept. They will know how to handle the animal when its injured and bring it to a wildlife hospital.
