Question about the crayfish in my fish tank?
I have a crayfish in my tank that i raised from when it was the size of a dime and i was wondering if it was ok to remove it's two front claws so it stops grabbing my other fish.

No you cant remove them. there claws are the only way it can get food. If you did do that then you would be risking a bacterial infection and your crayfish could die from that and starvation. If you did tear its claws off and it some how managed to live then it would just regrow them when it molts. So my advice is to not to take its claws off and get a different tank for it if you dont want it nipping at your other fish. good luck with your crawdad.

I have a Cambarus clarkii sp. Orange and it's relatively peaceful. It's left Comet Goldfish, Betta, Cherry Barbs, and Black Neons Tetras alone. It loved snails though. It's currently in a coolwater tank with the Comet Goldfish. For a successful fish+crayfish tank you should ensure that the crayfish is very well fed and that the fish are healthy. Make sure there's plenty of room for both to move around freely with distance between them. And keep up on water quality.

Do not remove its claws. that will put alot of stress on the critter which might kill it.
My suggestion is to move the fish to a fish-only aquarium or move the cray-fish to a cray-fish only aquarium.
