Is a musical based on the Green Day's "American Idiot" really necessary?

Is Green Day really necessary?

Not in my opinion. I'm a devoted Green Day fan and I think this idea is ridiculous. I hope it wasn't them that came up with it. It was an amazing album and the most important one of Green Day's career - let's leave the legacy at that I say, and keep the focus on 21st Century Breakdown until their next album.

Maybe its not necessary but when the who did it was that necessary?

Least they are trying to create something different it might not work but its better than sticking greatest hits albums out every year like some big bands do.
