Depends, if you reformatted the drive then vista is gone, if you upgraded try a search for windows.old (hidden)

    see the link below

    or directly from Microsoft

This article describes how to remove the Windows.old folder that is generated when you perform a custom installation of Windows Vista. The Windows.old folder contains folders and files that were used in the earlier version of Microsoft Windows that was installed.

To remove the Windows.old folder, follow these steps.

Important Before you remove the Windows.old folder, make sure that there are no important files in it.

Click StartCollapse this imageExpand this image, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click System Tools.

    Click Disk Cleanup.

In the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, click Files from all users on this computer.

Note If the User Account Control dialog box appears, type the administrator password, and then click OK. Otherwise, click Continue.

In the Disk Cleanup:Drive Selection dialog box, select the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK. Wait while the system scans the computer for unnecessary files.

Click the Disk Cleanup tab, and then look for the Previous Windows installations check box.

If you find the Previous Windows installations check box, click to select it, and then click OK.

If you do not find this check box, go to step 7.

When you are prompted to confirm the removal of files, click Delete Files.

Wait while the system removes the files. You have now removed the Windows.old folder.

once you initiate setting up homestead windows 7 once you've already got Vista, the installer make it easier to improve without eliminating something you've already got - so all of your classes will proceed to be put in, and all of your files will nonetheless be there. (you actually have the alternative to wipe out each thing and initiate over, that you do not favor to do - yet in case you had homestead windows XP really of Vista, which will be your in basic terms determination). even inspite of the reality that this improve must be chance-free, in case you likely can, first back up all of your files first, before you position in homestead windows 7. i understand you suggested you do not have an exterior not uncomplicated force, even if that is continually a good suggestion to have a backup once you've significant stuff, and now will be a great time to get one. in basic terms make sensible that when the backup, you shop the exterior force another position - no longer along with your computing device, and with somewhat of success no longer even in similar progression (what if there's a fireplace, flood, or housebreaking?).
