How to get a passport photo of a 2 year old who won't sit still?
We're travelling, and unfortunately will require a passport for our 2 year old to re-enter Canada. Trouble is she will not sit still even for a split second for the photo. My husband has tried twice 15 minutes at two different stores and still no luck. We cannot physically restrain her because you're not allowed to have any one else (not even a hand) in the picture. We've tried putting her favourite stuffed animal on the chair she needs to sit on, had daddy take a turn, but she just keeps flailing any time we get near the chair.
Anyone have any tricks that might be worth trying next time we go? I'm stumped.

we practice at home. for 2 years we suffered with horrific family photos until we started 'prepping' them for the event. at home, we dress them up, have him sit, smile and say CHEESE!!! then show her the photo (assuming you have a digital or phone with photo capabilities) heck, give her a treat for doing it right if it's that urgent to get done. try dressing her in a princess outfit, a halloween costume, etc. see if that 'encourages' her.
and I don't envy you -- 2 year olds + compliance = headache :)
bon voyage!

I totally agree with Mythicalbee - practice at home! I also find that mirrors work wonders... My daughter LOVES to look at herself in the mirror. We practice different expressions in the mirror ("Show me happy! Now let's see a sad face!"). Maybe if you tried that kind of approach, and you held up a mirror for her so she can see herself while the picture is being taken? Maybe let her put some chapstick and stick-on earrings on as well (my daughter loves to play "dress-up", and will put chapstick on and show everyone how pretty she looks, even though you can't really see anything!).
Best wishes!
