?When Jesus said that the disciples were to be baptized in the name of the holy spirit, he also added before that to be baptized in the name of the Father, and in the name of the Son. This was to be a water baptism for all disciples.

But when speaking of the baptism of the holy spirit, he mentions the baptism with water, and adds a special baptism directly with the holy spirit.

So once a person is baptized with water as a disciple, there can be an additional baptism indicating a special privilege extended by Jehovah God and Jesus Christ - to be selected as participants in a new government called God's kingdom, and represent all mankind's interests as future kings and priests.

Since the number of those who serve in this capacity are a limited number, not all receive the baptism with holy spirit, but all disciples, including those serving in this special capacity receive the baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and holy spirit.

For an example in the Bible showing the separation of the water baptism and the baptism with holy spirit, please go to Acts 8:14-17.

When a person receives the baptism of the holy spirit, there is no doubt what is happening. It is explained in Romans 8:12-17.

If a person does not know for himself and cannot locate in the Bible, and does not know the REASON for going to heaven, then is is more than likely that they have not had that revealed by holy spirit and their baptism by water indicates their future is to live on a paradise earth FOREVER, under the rulership of God's kingdom.

So those who receive water baptism have been selected to live on earth forever.

And those who receive the additional baptism of the holy spirit have been selected to serve in the heavens as part of the new government over the earth, God's kingdom.

Both futures are awesome, and both give everlasting life in perfection, and a continued relationship with Jehovah and his Son, Jesus Christ.

What a question to ask people that believe the the Holy Spirit is not able to do anything on HIS own as HE is only God's active force. They also call the savoir of our sins, the only begotten Son of God, the only name under heaven that you can be save with, a lowly Archangel. There are still at least two Archangels Gabriell and Michael but before there was the most powerful and highest ranking Archangel, Lucifer. After he decided, as the most important angel, he would try and overthrow God and take His throne, he was tossed to earth before he tempted Eve. They come up with statement like an authority to do something so it does not mean anything... It is an authority of three names, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all three have the authority to baptize in their name and therefore they are all equal. They are God. To baptize with the authority of the Holy Spirit (one of the three) tells us that He ( the Holy Spirit) has full authority as does Christ and the Father, each is equal to the others.

I would say yes there is a difference. To me being baptized by the holy spirit is when you speak in tongues as the spirit gives you utterance. Being baptized in the name of the holy spirit to me is when you are baptized with water.

Being baptized by holy spirit means that Jehovah God's spirit comes upon you like when Jesus got baptized Matt. 3:16-17 and God's spirit like a dove came upon him. Also in Acts 2:2-4 where tongues of fire appeared over them and they were filled with holy spirit. Being baptized by holy spirit means that God himself anoints you. Being baptized in the name of the holy spirit means that you understand what the holy spirit is and understand what it means to be baptized in the name of the holy spirit and you will live your life in harmony with it. That's why it says in the Bible to be baptized in the name of The Father, in the name of the Son and in the name of the Spirit. You are to understand what it means to be baptized in the name of each one. So you are to live you life in harmony just like Jesus did when he got baptized by both leaving a model for us to follow. Being baptized by holy is Jehovah God's choice and He alone.

Yes.... The only one that counts as far as getting on into Heaven is The Baptism of The Holy Spirit. When The Spirit of God enters at the instant of Salvation...... any one can be "baptized" in the name of any thing... just saying the words as someone goes under is merely symbolism

    Obviously.

The scripture in Matthew 28:19,20 seems to have been altered and should perhaps have read like this:

19 So, go and make disciples in all nations in my name, – – 20 teaching them to obey all the things that I commanded you. And {Look!} I’ll be with you every day until the end of the age.’

That also is no real surprise for when we research the subject, all the other scriptures tell us to baptize in the name of Christ.

Baptism by the holy spirit usually happened as a separate event, just like in Jesus' own case, after baptism for those chosen. The choice is totally up to God and Christ who is chosen.

When you are baptized whether in the name of the Holy Spirit or by the Holy Spirit, it is the same. As Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, he said, I baptize you with water, but He will come who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is not God or even a person. It is God's active force. So because the Holy Spirit does not have a personal name (unlike the Father, "Jehovah" and the Son "Jesus"), being baptized in the 'name' of the Holy Spirit means being baptized in recognition of the power [or the authority] of the Holy Spirit.

    W. E. Vine tells us that Bible phrases beginning "in the name of..." indicate that the secondary meaning of "authority" or "power" was intended by the Bible writer. - p. 772, An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, W. E. Vine. Therefore, Matt. 28:19 actually means: "baptizing them in recognition of the power [or the authority] of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy spirit."

Christians that are spoken of as being baptized “in holy spirit” lends further evidence against the idea of personality as regards the holy spirit. (Ac 1:5; 11:16)

No, since they both involve the imagination.

    The Holy Spirit isn't real.
