Y & R - Did John ever adopt Ashley ?
I know he raised her as his own b/c his wife left all the kids but did he ever make it legal ? She always act so entitled but Billy is so left out & he is not the bastard kid !
Maybe where you are from the husband doesn't have to adopt but it does vary from state to state ! Federal law - Any person who willfully and knowingly makes any false statement in a certificate can be fined up to ten thousand dollars or face imprisonment of five years, or both.
I know a lady in VA who was sued & fined , had to pay her husband and her child is not entitled to anything - he has downs . No i'm not calling Ashley a bastard - just thinking about Billy saying that's how he is treated !
John knew who Ashley real dad was - his best friend - it was a story line & ppl back then were saying the kid not John's might be Tracey b/c she was youngest & not like the other 2 - mom confessed !

Her Mother left the kids and went to Europe, and John raised them, but I don't remembering him adopting Ashely, Mamie ( the maid ) had a hand in help rasing her....no I don't think it was legal...maybe Billy should have a drink and think about this maybe he will put two and two together...Ashely is really the odd girl out...funny how somethings are left to be forgotten.

From what I remember, John believed that Ashley was his biological daughter. I think he died believing that Ashley was his ... but if he ever did find out the truth, he didn't want Ashley to know, so most likely he wouldn't have arisen suspicions by trying to adopt her. He was her father on the birth certificate, he raised her as his child, so she was his.
Jack is the only other person who knows the truth, but he kept quiet about it because it would've hurt Ashley ... and in the end, it didn't really matter to them. I'm not sure whether or not Ashley ever found out the truth. If she doesn't know the truth yet, it'll only be a matter of time before she DOES find out ... and then they'll be peeling her off the walls! Again!
Let's just hope that it's not sweet step-mom Glo who figures it out and goes public with the news; poor baby might become so unhinged that she'll chase the Bardwells all around the mulberry bush with a pair of shears or bush-clippers!

John is Ashley's biological father. Jack and Ashley have the same parents, Billy has a different mother.

Ashley didn't have to be adopted, John's name is on the birth certificate, that makes him her legal Father!!!!

No he didn't but since he was on the birth certificate I think legally she is considered his daughter!
