do i have to use the ethernet cord that came with my xbox 360?

the cord that came with my xbox is too short to reach my xbox. so i bought a longer on and it doesn't connect. help?!?!?!?!

    It's just a standard ethernet cord. You can replace it with another if you want.

    It doesn't have to be the one from the box. I use a giant cable to connect. Are you sure that the cord is actually ethernet?
