I have a computer and well its being shared with others. And I want to make sure when I delete something from the computer is ALL GONE.I was wonder after the information is delete is it possible for someone obviously they'll have to be a technical etc... to actually find it after it has being delete?

I mean does the computer makes a extra copy of stores it somewhere?

If there is such a thing

First, if you delete your email, it goes into the trash. Anyone can get into your trash. They can simply type in "search": in the email, it will search your trash for the subject typed in and pull emails out of the trash. If you want to delete that, you must delete the "trash". Then if you want to be doubly sure, after you delete the trash, do a search for a subject of an email which was in the trash and see if it pulls it up. If it does it, delete the trash again. Then delete the recycle bin.

If you go to MY PC, at least that is what it was on Windows XP, and Vista

or the start menu...under settings....go to control panel...systems maintenance...internet options....then read down, it will say something about clearing caches, etc. Go there and read all that. Sometimes you can set it to keep the information a certain number of days, the same way you can have some sites to keep yur passwords a certain number of days or weeks.

This clear caches box will come up, and you can clear cookies, etc. Those are bits of info stored in your pc. History of browsing, etc.

Go into all your "caches" and clear all caches...that is the information kept

from your search engines. In case you did not know it, there is a record kept on your pc of all searches you have done. Did you notice that sometimes when you type in something you want to search for, a list comes up under it and you can just click on it, and it will appear in the window for you to search for it? That is a cache, anyone can see it and see what you have been into, tell what you have been shopping for to get that surprise gift. SOOOOO

Look at the tool bar. those Yahoo, Google, all those toolbars,

Says "Tools: Right up there where it says file, edit, view..favorites "TOOLS, CLICK ON TOOLS, it pulls up a list, says :"delete browsing history" if you do that they cannot tell where you have been shopping.

You can save all those sites under bookmarks. That is a nice little thing to have if you want to remember a web page and go back to it later. I use it all the time, I see something when I am searching, and say hey, I want to read that, but not now. So I save it for later. Just remember anyone going into your pc can read your book marks too. So, if you don't want to do that, keep a little notebook and pencil by your PC . I have so many passwords, it is pitiful.Cannot recall them all. Trying to come up with one good impossible one to use for all the websites.

Here is something else. Go to system maintenance under . settings, control panel. This is before you log onto the internet. Get used to clicking on these things , just out of curiousity, and read it. Just read what they are. Eventually, they will make sense. If you are brand new to a pc, it can be intimidating. Very expensive equipment which no one wants to mess up, or break.

Go to system maintenance, settings, performance, disc clean up...options, my files only and then you can clean up files. Don't do this unless you know for sure you want to delete it.

I suggest you to to the task manager and defrag, that cleans up the junk

on your pc which you picked up and is just trash laying around, of no use.

That will not hurt anything. If it says "defrag" it is ok. It really just takes fragments your pc has picked up off the internet which are junking up, and taking up space. It will make your pc work faster. I clear all these things often.

]If you go to the control panel, before you long onto the internet, click on programs. It will bring up evry program you have downloaded onto your pc.

If you read through there, you will find a lot of progrms you have on there you do not use. It will tell you the last time you used it. Click on it, and it will say delete. If not using, take it off. Clears space, lightens the load on your pc.

    Cleans house, so to speak.

Regarding others using your pc. You go into user account, create a password so only you can use the account. You can have an account with a login password, and one without it. There is also something called "parental

controls" please look at this. It tells you how to set the controls on your pc so that material is graded according to whether it has adult content or not. You can set it to high control, medium, low. It explains each level, and you can have porn sites blocked. You will not have porn site pop ups or advertisements onto your pc if you choose a parental control level which blocks them. I did not know this when I first got my pc, and what filth. I would not want a kid to see that. Fortunately, I lived alone and double locked my doors, always. Check out the parental controls.
