Help connecting Linksys router?
I am trying to set up a wireless connection at my house with a router my sister-in-law gave me using DSL. I am trying to use Linksys model WRT54G v 5. I held down the reset button for 40 seconds. I am trying to set up the connection on a desktop using Windows XP. I go to http://192.168.1.1/ and get the message "management mode firmware upgrade"
I am also getting the message alert "windows -system error There is an IP address conflicy with another system on the network. "
The web browser can connect to the internet

The modem needs to be bridged.
Assuming this is AT&T DSL
1. Connect the computer directly to the moden.
2. Open an Internet browser and in the address line enter 192.168.1.254 and enter
3. Log into modem with your user-name and password.
4. Depending on the modem you need to select the Networking tab.
5. Depending on the modem where it says connection type, change the type of connection from PPPoE to Bridged Ethernet.
6. Save the changes,
7. Reconnect the router.
8, Power cycle the modem.
9, You should now have your connection, through the router.
