2005 Dodge Dakota 4WD problem?

My 05 Dakota keeps trying to go into 4LO on it's own. While driving down the freeway at 65 MPH the 4LO light starts blinking. Also it will lock into 4wd and display none of the 4wd lights. The only way I can tell it is in 4wd is it grabs while turning. The truck goes in and out of 4wd as normal when using the selector knob. Even when I turn the truck off I can here the Transfer Case Motor clicking.

that's the switch causing that to happen on that truck i have replaced a few of those for doing the same thing, what i do is unplug it from the wiring connector and then drive it and that usually stops them from doing that, the indicator lights though usually work off the transfer case from another switch ,so you could have two totally different problems with it,good luck.

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota that is also engaging into 4 wheel drive without turning the control knob on the dash. I was told it was about a $620.00 repair ( the part was approximately $460.00). I called Dodge and they have no recalls on the repair. They also said I was the first person to call about the problem, and that they have never heard of it happening before.

Sounds like a malfrugalty with the switch or wiring. Pull the switch and disconnect the wiring and see if the problem persists, if it does, there is a short in the wiring somewhere. If that cures the problem, replace the switch.
