Bearing in mind that William of Occam was a Franciscan Friar, he'd have taken a razor to any theologian that disagreed with him.

You have never been shaved with a dull straight Razor, have you ?

    just saying.....(about the same effect)

btw: The problem I see with accepting comparative theology to Occams razor is much like the thousands that apply for American Idol. Everybody is "the one" . Getting down to what is good is a lot like getting shaved with a dull razor.

Occam's Razor says that we should cut away all that is unnecessary to a problem. The assumption of a God is completely unnecessary. So let's just cut that out. And bam, atheism. So you are correct sir. How does that ego massage feel?

Since theology is not simple by any means, couple that with comparative efforts of 1,000's of theologies, Occam's razor is already pretty dull before you even begin to shave.

When you apply a principle of logic to faith-based theories, you get an intellectual black hole.

Of course, those who apply the Jesus Material (the actual teachings, before they were bowdlerized) to their lives, simply because they like the idea of being kind to their fellow humans, aren't affected by it. There's a world of difference between a personal code of ethics and institutionalized superstition.

It collapses like any balloon does when you apply a razor to it.

It deals with the simplest answer being right, not the most simplistic answer.

When you apply life's 'theory' there are many questions but still no answers. "I think therefore I am". If I didn't 'think' would it no be from 'God'? Or is my thinking from a mass of chaos? I still think about this therefore I keep thinking and learning...
