The entire USA, including Alaska, is only 2% of the planet's surface area. What % do you think the part of the country that is affected by the blizzard is? Do you really think that this small fraction can be representative of the entire planet?

It's not even snowing in most of the rest of the country, let alone the rest of the planet. If it is raining outside your house, would you assume that it must also be raining in Iraq or Argentina? So why do you make the assumption that your local temperature is the same across the globe?
