Are you a chemistry person or a mathematics person?
That is do you feel that life is a chemistry of changes or a set of predefined equations that one must follow?
If life all about arithmetic or chemistry?

Chemistry
Just today..I was watching my dad pour water in his whiskey, and the concentration diluted, as the volume increased ..C1V1=C2V2 ...LOL chemistry days..although I still hate anything related to mathematics and science.
Life is more like an equation which can be transposed to fit the way you want it to..now I don't know whether that is chemistry or mathematics...see my lack of knowledge in this field.
But I can say that Life is like the business cycle, it has an expansionary phase, a peak, then a contractionary phase, followed by a recession which can sometimes turn into depression..but then once again thanks to monetary and budgetary policies (stimulus), we are back in the expansionary phase!
I just gave your question essence =D

If you are referring to yourself, and even if you are not, of course. Anything is possible. I have a very hard time understanding math and Chemistry. To the point that sometimes I honestly think it's impossible for me to understand. If you approach it with an open mind and find the right person to explain it though, it helps a lot. One of my issues with math... Algebra specifically.... I have had 3 different teachers explain something to me, the same thing, slope and stuff. I didn't understand it at all. A 4th teacher came around though, and she was able to explain it pretty well and I know somewhat understand it, and when/if a lesson starts dealing with it again, with a little help I believe I will be able to do it. Just because someone has a low IQ or doesn't understand something doesn't mean they can't do certain things. The brain is a muscle, and you can always exercise it to strengthen it. A low IQ means a poor knowledge set and understanding (I don't know exactly what IQ tests measure...) Everything on the tests can be learned though. You are not born knowing the wisest thing to do in certain situations, you just learn that. Some people keep their minds closed and don't learn wisdom and sensual knowledge. Someone is also not born knowing Algebra. It is something you have to learn. Even people with learning disabilities are able to learn through time and effort. It is all a matter of how much effort you are willing to give :) Go to the Khan Academy website. Khan is awesome :)

I am very much a Chemistry person. But I also know that chemical equations/processes follow a very precise mathematical route. At a certain level the two sciences merge. So life is a combination of both. Partly indeterminate( in our control) and partly predetermined.

MATHS-I think that our lives are filled with predefined equations and limitations...I think life is more controlled than we believe it to be, sometimes I find freedom is just an illusion.

I'm a math person but to an extent you have to be a math person to know chemistry.

All chemistry.
(may be a few minor "arithmetical-problems" on chemical reactions there-in .., but no 'mathematics' at all ... ) !!!
