John Murtha(rep D PA) just died. Age 77, complications from surgery..i?

I guess my question is, why do these career politicians stay in office forever, yet once the average person reaches age 60 or, so, he is often forced out of his job.

Because it is the old double standard. Some businesses make it mandatory that you retire at age 65 or some at 70. For some jobs, your body just tells you enough is enough and you retire then. I do know of some people who are still working in their late 60's and early 70's because they enjoy what they do.

Guess he's not going to enjoy his Congressional pension, too bad.

and that i will assure you that not one Iraq vet will mourn his passing. the guy betrayed each veteran whilst he compelled the Marine Corps into courtroom-martialling adult males he knew have been harmless (over the nonexistant "Haditha bloodbath") in a partisan attempt to embarass the President.
