What happens to the hats after a hat trick?

I'm just wondering cuz I know nothing about hockey and what really happens to the hats. Do they give em back which seems impossible or maybe resale em? Maybe just trash em or burn or donate em? Im gonna guess donation!

    They get donated to local charities.

    I only know of one organization that keeps them, remainder donates them.

    they put them all in bags and then throw them away unless someone gets them so they can donate them to others

    They are usually made into a hearty broth and the last loosing team has to drink it.
