I have visited your country twice. I have nothing bad to say about anyone I met there. The people I met when I was there were very courteous. :-)

As Thatcher said, "Europe was created by History. America by Philosophy"

The United States have exerted many cultural influences just as Britain has given many of it's traditions to the world. America has been the home of great thinkers and inventors; and still have a global influence on the world, as we do.

However, some may say that the United Kingdom and the United States are too closely related in international affairs.

Some things are irritating about Americans, such as their view that everyone should know about their country, as if it were that important. Other countries are just as important, to the people that live there. For example, why do Americans insist on abbreviating their states to two letters, instead of writing it out in full? Are we supposed to know every state in the US?

I was disturbed to hear about the poverty in your country. It seems like there is a big division between rich and poor, and the poor have bad health because you have to pay for health care. I also really hate the view of the right wing in the USA, who think there is something necessary about carrying a gun. Their fear of communism is ridiculous. As if it could happen in America as it happened in Russia!!

But I like the "can do" attitude of Americans, and would like more British people to have that way about things. You hear a lot of negativity in Britain, which you don't get in the US. And I don't mind that Americans are not so reserved as us. Maybe we think that the friendliness they show is not as genuine as ours, but I think it is the same, just expressed differently.

I like Obama, but I fear he can be a little careless in the things he says. He should stop himself, and think a bit more.

Overall, Americans should stop thinking that their country is the centre of the world. They should see themselves as others see them, and not look to see what "position" they are. As if that matters!

Im british. No offence but i do find americans very annoying, they all seem very loud and attention seeking but i hate to label people, i give everyone a chance, it just seems the americans i have come across are like that. There are obviously americans i like but they just normally tend to annoy me lol. But i love the country though, looks like there is so much space and your houses are really big and cool, but that is what i have seen through the media, i have never been to america, but i like how everything is big and spacious. I think the uk and america should learn things from eachother and change their nation! Obama is a legend.

I'm American (of parents who are British) and I think most of them have nothing against the US and a lot of them come here to visit frequently, especially New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and the west coast. The only one's I've met from there who are very anti-US are one's who have a political agenda, but you can find those people in the US too (such as gun nuts who say there's no freedom in the UK and hate the UK because they don't allow guns there). There's good and bad people everywhere.

  • It's got a few bad points.........but so has everywhere else.

Everybody I know that has been to the US including me think it's impressive.

Most of the people are kind and generous.

The people that have nothing but bad to say about the US probably haven't been there.

p.s. The radio is great and the TV is crap.

As an American, I am biased. I like my country, but there are parts I do not like.
